review 1: The plot returns in this fourth in the series. It's not a huge plot and I think it could have been written better but it's so much more interesting than the dramatic drivel in the third book. Speaking of dramatic drivel, Ruth is regaining her competence professionally and personally. Nelson is dealing with the mess he made of his life. And it's looking like we may not have to deal with the two of them falling into bed together again. Hallelujah. I'll be reading the next in the series.
review 2: This has to be one of the most tedious mysteries I've ever read. Ruth Galloway is the series amateur detective but does no detecting in this book and mostly frets about her work, her neighbor, her baby, her cat, etc. The solution to the drug case occurs suddenly t
... moreo one of the police officers and all the other mysteries are solved by someone just announcing the explanation (how people got sick) or confessing their guilt (writing letters). I only finished because it was for a book club. less
