review 1: I really enjoyed this book (the second in the Ruth Galloway series). I felt that the plotting was far more complex and better disguised than in the first book. There were clues along the way, several of which I had spotted and formulated a theory around, but that's the fun of a mystery and there weren't whopping great signposts like I felt The Crossing Places contained. I am loving Ruth's character and relationship with Nelson (like Norfolk's answer to Kathy Reichs's Tempe Brennan and Andrew Ryan), and am looking forward to starting the third book in the series.

... moregh time. This is in some ways a "simple" mystery novel--who was the murdered child and why is someone trying to scare Ruth to death. But its attraction comes in the feisty character of Ruth, the minor but wonderful character of Father Hennessy and, of course, Harry Nelson. I can't say I really "like" Harry but I have already queued up the next in the Ruth Galloway series because I "have" to know how Ruth and Harry's problem resolves itself. less

Very good book. I do like this series. Suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
