review 1: I am not a huge fan of the mystery genre, but really enjoyed this story. In Search of the Rose Notes introduces the reader to two childhood friends, Nora and Charlotte, who reconnect years later when the body of their missing babysitter is discovered. Rose was a beautiful, carefree teenager before she mysteriously disappeared in 1990. Nora was also the last person reported to see her alive. The author unfolded the story in a variety of ways using information from both the past and present. There is a quote on the cover of the book that says the story "feels like a beautifully written secret, whispered into the reader's ear..." I kept coming back to that quote as I read the story and saw how much it rang true. An enjoyable and unpredictable read!
review 2: I tho
... moreught this book was going to be more like following the clues trying to figure out what happened to Rose through papers and little things that she left behind. Unfortunately most of it was remembering the past and wandering around this town that Nora grew up in. Sure some of the memories link to what had really happened but some of them seemed somewhat pointless. Also I didn't really care for the character of Charlotte even as an adult si was selfish in pushy. All together I enjoyed reading this book but I don't know if I wouldn't want to read it again or add it to my owned book collection. We didn't get to the Rose note till near the end and I was expecting to get to them sooner since that's what the book was called. Again I enjoyed the book but overall I was disappointed. less
