review 1: There were so many things I liked about this book, but somehow they didn't all fall together in a way that kept me completely engaged. In fact, it took me so long to finish that I ran out of "renews" at the library and had to plow through in the last two days and pay the overdue fine. Still worth it. It feels a little like Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore, which I loved, so maybe I was comparing it to that and it fell short. But only just slightly.
review 2: I actually enjoyed this read despite the fact that it is quite predictable. I loved it that I was brought behind the walls of a dictionary publishing company, and I learned a thing and a few on choosing and placing words in the dictionary. :D It was easy to read. It was written for us to think, I guess, but
... more it didn't get there or anywhere near. The way the clues were plotted were sort of unique, I wish the author made the revelation more... um, surprising? More like "the revelation". The novel's good, though, but I wouldn't classify it under the crime/thriller genre. I would love to call it just um, a "story". A story of what happened to Billy when he started working in Samuelson. less

Interesting about how words are defined. Slow moving . Nice murder mystery. Needed more pizazz!!!

I liked it, but I didn't love it--as I thought I would. Still and all, worth reading.

Liked the idea--didn't quite succeed for me on all levels, but enjoyable nonetheless.

An unusual mystery, adeptly written. A mystery just for word lovers.
