review 1: I enjoyed this book because it wasn't so sad and full of curse words-too many seem unnecessary and distract in my opinion. The book flows well, the characters are super likable and left me wanting a sequel only because I wanted to continue getting to know them. I gave it five stars for the above and because it isn't super predictable, a fun read, and doesn't require writing notes to know what is going on.
review 2: This book had an inspired beginning: the main character had an unusual childhood, and used cooking to communicate. The author similarly clearly loves to cook, and understands the language and emotions of food. But halfway through the book, Hollywood creeps in, and by the end most of the characters are paired up and living happily ever... unrealist
... moreically. I'm not sure why this happened-- was it the influence of an editor? less
