review 1: This book feels all about characters and loving description of them. There are many characters who have such generosity of heart, or learn how to be generous. You understand the frustrated ones, even if they grate on you because who they are, you learn to accept them. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book, the beautiful writing comes through, especially in meditative passages, and even descriptions of places.
review 2: I love Ms. Bauermeister's writing. This book is a great story of growth, family, friends - "mixing." It is subtle and indirect yet at times deep and thought provoking. I liked many of the characters but loved Isabelle. I thought it rather sneaky of the author to have me react to Finnegan the same way Louise reacted to Al and I criticize... mored her for it. Reading into things and assuming things are one way, then reacting to it before finding out the truth. I literally gave a little gasp when I realized this - very sneaky indeed Ms. Bauermeister. less
