review 1: I loved books 1-3. This one didn't do it for me, it was a struggle just to finish. I listened to this audiobook series and maybe changing the narrator on the 4th book had something to do with it but it had bigger problems than the narrators performance. Fighter jock hero that becomes starship captain, ok, but fighter jock that becomes starship captain that crashes spaceship and becomes commando hero, not so much. Plus if you can build 6 of the most technologically advance spacecraft in the universe, you would think they would bring enough ammo to defeat the known threat.
review 2: Out of the Black is the fourth book in the Odyssey One series. If you have not read the previous books, do so. The story and most characters continue to develop from previous books.... more If you have read the three other books, you know the kind of story Evan Currie writes. There is extreme action, a clever story with twists, and the kind of good and extremely competent people you wish existed working together to overcome whatever situation. Evan manages to take this book in a different direction allowing the story to be fresh and different while keeping the best elements of pervious story lines. The bottom line is if you liked the earlier books, you will love this book. less
