review 1: Was great to have more of Sorilla's crazy heroics in this book. I loved the whole battle for Hayden and Sorilla's desperate actions. Just two things I would have liked better - I thought Sorilla should have been a little more banged up by the end after everything. And, I was dissapointed to not find out about Sorilla's team and what happened to them. I'm hoping that we will find out in the next book. Still loving the whole series though! Great military sci-fi.
review 2: My normally stellar opinion of Evan Currie's books was skewed by there just not being enough in this book. It obviously is the next installment of the Hayden War series, but there was nothing like a beginning, middle, and end. It could have been taked onto the end of Valkyrie Rising or, mo
... morere likely, the beginning of the next book.I guess, with the whole ebook ecosystem, it makes more sense than ever to serialize a story and I think that's Mr. Currie's approach with Hayden. However, I'm still used to little more stand-alone-ish-ness with these space opera series. I'm thinking I should just become one of those snobs who waits for an entire series be be written before ravenously reading each volume from (virtual) cover to (virtual) cover one right after the other. less
