review 1: Although this book had a rather ponderous beginning, it became an entrancing and then an urgent read. In the first chapter, I was surprised to Learn that this was a sequel to "Venetia Kelly's Traveling Show", which I was mildly disappointed with. As I am not a fan of sequels, I may never have chosen to read this. Good thing I am a fan of Delaney. His style is rich with illustrious description and entertaining regressions! I was intrigued, frustrated, tickled, and annoyed at one time or another with Kate's character, which then endeared me to her as if she were a person from real life. I also wanted to smack some sense into Ben from time to time. The historical settings and detail were fascinating and pulled me into the story even more. The only thing lacking was ... morea good map, but then, I am a lover of maps. Great read! I am now onto the final book in the trilogy.
review 2: Matchmaker: I read this one out of order and so constantly I had the feeling that I was missing something. Also, the author’s style led to this feeling to as he was heavy-handed with the foreshadowing and the “all will be revealed later”. It is about Ireland during World War II and a harrowing chase through the fighting in Europe to find a missing husband. Not a bad story but I don’t know if I liked it well enough to go back read the previous one. I had read the first one and enjoyed it well enough. Three stars less

The middle got to be a little hard to follow and keep all the names straight. Good, just long.
