review 1: Not really a book that you read from cover to cover, so this is sort of like reviewing a book of trivia that you pick up while doing something in the bathroom.That being said, Mr. Vaynerchuk brings his in your face pop reference style found on his podcast to paper format wonderfully. I do have a rather major criticism, however. In the forward, he explains his methodology for picking wines to make the book, and that included having the wines be available to the public. Then, early in, he is including wines that are only produced in the 300 case range. That's only 3,600 bottles of a wine. Either he seriously doubted how many copies of his book he was going to sell, or he lost his vision along the way.Regardless, there are many a value items, and in high production that shoul... mored be easy to find, and It will open your mind up to other styles and places you perhaps had not considered before.
review 2: I'm definitely a Vayniac and I liked this book, but it's not the same as watching his webcast. If you try just reading it through like I did, it gets repetitive pretty quickly, but I admit that's probably not the way to use this volume. It should be more like read, sip, read, sip, etc. I appreciate that Gary set out to include readily available wines, but unfortunately, the first one I attempted to acquire was from a winery now closed! The Buck Zin, if I remember correctly. Anyway, a useful guidebook that does exhibit Gary's unique personality, but you basically get that with the Thunder Show, which is free, and includes more wrestling and Jets references than this book. less
