review 1: This book completely traumatized me! Lydia Ryan and Uri Andrev are so real. The brutal way the Reds killed the Romanovs shocked me. I felt as if I were inside that claustrophobic room that night in 1918. It was mind numbing. Anastasia's narrow escape and the sad fate of the Irish beauty Lydia and the extraordinary Uri's final reunion with his wife consumed me just the same way. This is one of the greatest and shocking books I have read and it traumatized to the point where I have decided I will never read it again! But I love the book and it will always be seen in my personal library. Bravo! Mr. Glenn Meade :)
review 2: Let me premise my review by saying that I review on how much I enjoyed a book, not specifically it's literary merits. That being said, The Rom
... moreanov Conspiracy was one of my favourite books I've ever read. Granted, I've always been fascinated by the Russian Revolution, however Meade crafted a complex, highly readable and truly page turning story, regardless of topic. Although the book is "based on true events", by the end of the story, I still cannot tell how much of the story was fact or fiction. And that's a good thing. The story starts in the present with an archaeological find of great interest. That's only where the adventure begins, as it's back to 1918 where the Romanov's are being held captive awaiting execution. Fast forward back to the future and I am partially convinced that Meade has unearthed the true story as to the question did Anastasia survive. Meade taught me lessons previously unknown about an incredibly tumultuous and interesting time, while simultaneously keeping me entertained and enthralled. It's for these and other reasons this is a new favourite for me. less

A fast moving, engaging thriller that owes more to "Mission Impossible" than it does to history.
