review 1: Maybe 2 1/2 stars. I still like the idea, and I cherish the memory of reading the first part of the trilogy. This time, the usual protagonists spend chapter after chapter running away, occasionally together but usually separately (at one time meeting each other briefly in flight, barely nodding and exchanging information, then racing on to their various goals), through a variety of quite atmospheric sets. It got a bit tedious after a while. Felt like a computer game, first person perspective. Still, I applaud the sheer bravado of a book like this. Do begin with the first book, though, and then see if you want to go on.
review 2: I can't even begin to tell you how sad I am that this series has ended! Though the book was as well written, exciting and fast-paced a... mores the other two were, it was one of those that because I knew the end was coming I read slower so I could hold onto it for longer. I was gasping out loud at parts and it really wrenched on me towards the end. Without giving anything away, I was happy Dahlquist ended it the way he did but how am I going to find a series I love as much as that? *insert sad face here. less
