review 1: Another strong addition to the series. Seeing Eren dealing with the repercussions of who he is added to the story. I cringed when Levi was proving his point to everyone with Eren, but it brings up even more questions. Like his tooth. Seeing Jean step up was awesome. I feel like he's going to play a big role later. And of course Armin is adorable as usual. And THAT titan at the end? What is happening? I know some people might complain that the series keeps throwing out more questions than it answers, but I like that about it. I want to find out, so I'll keep reading. Also, look at it from the perspective of the people in that world. They DON'T know what the Titans really are or where they came from, so it wouldn't make sense for the readers to know. If we did, then the char... moreacters would know, and they'd deal with it, and then we wouldn't have a story. So just enjoy the ride!
review 2: After leading humanity's first defense against the titans, Eren falls into a coma for three days, and as he awakens he realizes he has been shackled to the bed in a dungeon room, which he realizes later, is right under the courtroom. The wardens call him a monster, and when Hange and Mike take Eren to his trial, the jury does not hold back a single glare or look of disgust. Being accused for things he doesn't even remember doing in titan form, Eren loses all of his freedom and is put under the custody of Corporal Levi. And then, somebody kills Hange's precious titan test subjects in the dead of night! The only way they could have killed them is by using their vertical maneuvering gear, so every recruit's gear from the 104th training corps is inspected, but not a single one has been used since the take back Wall Maria mission. However, Annie is acting oddly suspicious from then, and all the way up to when they all must choose between the MPB, the Survey Corps, and the Garrison...In court, they decided Eren's only reason for staying alive now is to go to his old home's basement in Shinganshina to unlock the secret behind the titans... So Levi announces that in a month's time they will be having a test run through titan territory with the same methods that they will use to get to Eren's basement. But when an intelligent and deadly female titan appears, the human race may fall back behind their walls again!Ooh, the first chapter in this volume wasn't in the anime. Or at least, I don't remember it. I wonder if it'll be the beginning to episode one in the new season?! Or perhaps the live-action movie. Hehehehe. Whatever the case, I think it would be a fantastic opening to a new season, just as long as that season will allow us to uncover all of the unanswered secrets and questions! And that titan mentioned Ymir... Is Ymir involved, or perhaps her family? Or would it simply be just a coincidence? Hmm, I'll bet on the former. Ararara, and the scene where Levi beats up Eren is just as epic as in the manga as in the anime LOL. Poor Eren though. Also, I never realized it before but, one of the guys under Levi's command, the guy that is always running his mouth then biting his tongue (by accident), he was the same guy that was freaking the hell out when Pixis first announced Eren's ability. The one that was starting a mass hysteria, but then, decided to stay after Pixis told everyone what would happen to their loved ones if nobody fought against the titans. Hah, he really grew, huh? He's still an idiot though. This volume seemed to drag on forever, but then again, my mind was somewhat elsewhere too. But towards the end is when this really got good. less
