review 1: I always like Harriet Evans for entertaining reading. And Not Without You certainly fir that bill. I will say that I thought some parts of this book were heavy-handed. Some of the "suspenseful" elements were telegraphed too much. And I also spent the hour after I finished it composing a different ending in my head that allowed Sophie to escape acting without her face being destroyed. That said I love Harriet Evans and can't wait for the next one!
review 2: Not entirely sure I liked the main character, Sophie Leigh, but it was a good story going back and forth in time. I had worked out who was trying to harm her before it was actually revealed in the story, so there were a few pages of frustration before the story caught up with my deductions, and the character ... morefrom the 1950's, Eve Noel never felt fully rounded as when we finally catch up with her in the present day, there is no completion surrounding her acting career going forward. But overall, a good read. less
