review 1: Running away from life is our perogative and as humans most of us are afraid to embrace love when it comes in and katie is no stranger to that. She leaves her life and best friend Zoe along with her family in England and runs off to New York after a great tragedy adamant to forget her past and the man she left behind.. The book portrays kate and Mac at various points in the novel, meeting at cross roads..however fare deals them with a horrie hand and the timing is never just right, with late refusing to be vulnerable again and let Mac in. Just like most of us, she's afraid she will lose the one person she loves in the world, the person who makes her feel like nothing she's ever felt before, so she flees time and time again, until she can't flee anymore.. Will she tell Mac ... moreshe loves him before it's too late? Will her scars finally be healed? Will she have her fairy tale ending? I guess you have to just read it to find out! :-D
review 2: I can't believe this book has sat unread on my bookshelf for so long! picked it up on a whim and absolutely loved it! The characters and settings are vivid and memorable and hooked me from the first couple of chapters. The different time periods brought the twist slowly to light. It's not always an easy read, with a few very dark moments, but is overall uplifting and optimistic. I have read a couple of Harriet Evans books some time ago and will definatly be revisiting her when I'm looking for a less 'fluffy' read. less
