review 1: This book is about a boy named Joss McMillan who learns a secret that he must never tell. He lost one of the most important things to him and because of that he will do everything he can to avenge it. He meets a group of people who will change his life completely. Joss is determined to be the best Vampire slayer he can be.I absolutely loved this book. I hope one day they make a movie based off of it. It mixes real teenage problems with fantasy action that just blows your mind. I don’t like the way a lot of things went down. Spoiler alert, i don’t like how Abraham whipped Joss with the whip.He is still just a boy. Overall, Heather Brewer did an amazing job with this book.I highly recommend that you read this book and the rest of the series because I know I wil... morel. If you love action, drama, and more action Then this is the book for you. I wish Joss McMillan good luck and I hope he stays safe in his journey. I’ll see him in the next book and I hope you will to.
review 2: First Bite got off to a really rough start for me it seemed. It felt like the story was kind of choppy and didn't flow all that well, but it really grew on me by the end of the book somehow. I'm having a hard time piecing together why I even like this book in the first place but I'd say that I liked it for two reasons: one, I have a lot of nostalgia for the Chronicles of Vladimir Tod series and two, I liked that this book returned to non romantic vampires. I guess I also liked that it was from a vampire slayer's perspective since vampire books are usually from a human girl with a crush's point of view. There was only one thing that really bothered me (I could get around the bad pacing) and that was that Joss constantly thinks about this sister, who the reader hardly gets to know and I know I personally felt no emotional attachment to her. How am I supposed to care about a character that was in one or two chapters total? That aside, I thought the book was fun but I don't think it's for everyone (and if you hated Joss in the Chronicles of Vladimir Tod series don't even think about picking this book up). less
