review 1: I am a huge fan of Browne's from her Little Lady series, and snap up each of her books. What I love about them is Browne's consistent style--she's among the very best of "chick lit," funny, smart, and emotionally rich. HONEMOON HOTEL was an irresistible read for me, because I loved the Little Lady books so much--Browne has a marvelous way with creating proper, tightly held main characters who are deeply endearing, with clear vulnerabilities and a craving for setting their softer, looser sides free, and she's done so again beautifully with Rosie McDonald, hotel events planner extraordinaire. Rosie's perfect foil is Joe, the owner's laid-back, loose-spoken, hippie-fied son. The tension and conflicts between them give way believably and so satisfyingly to their evident connec... moretion. A delicious ride that gave me some too-late nights--it's hard to put down.
review 2: A diverting story with an intelligent and hardworking woman who - like the rest of Browne's heroines - can't stand up for herself, and ends up successful almost in spite of herself. Just the same, she's funny and warm and very likable and you definitely root for her. I do like Hester Browne a lot. I thought this one threw in some weird, conspicuous pop culture references (LK Bennett shoes / Kate Middleton; FaceTime) and some abrupt and seemingly random plot points, but I enjoyed Rosie just the same. Happy, light fare. less

Easy, quick "I'm feeling gross & don't want to get up from this couch" Sunday read.

I decided not to finish this book. Felt like something I'd read before.
