review 1: I totally would have given this book 5 stars but I thought the book a little boring in the middle. It had the usual "girl's not supposed to fight but does it anyway" scenario that was a little clichéd especially with the whole disguise idea. Other than that I really enjoyed the book. The sexual frustration between Jolie and Rand could be construed as annoying and unrealized but makes up for it with the bazaar twist in the end which, by the way, was amazing!!! Not only was it not expected but it was a twist of brilliance. It really tied the story together and it kept my interest enough to want to finish the series.
review 2: This is the second in the Jolie Wilkins series, and the story starts out shortly after the first one leaves off. I did enjoyed seeing how
... morethings worked out in the end with the whole Underworld civil war, and I also liked the tension of the love triangle between Jolie, hunky warlock Rand and mysterious Sinjin. Still, overall I tended to not like this story as much as the first one. I am not sure why, except perhaps that I just did not feel quite as connected to the characters. I like the author's wit and I do like the paranormal world in this series, and I will probably read other stories in this series to see what unfolds. less
