review 1: I really enjoyed this one. We learn more about this society and a little about what happened in the past to create the situation in which they find themselves. I liked the experience of Silo 17 and seeing how Juliette handles it. The characters are deep and well-developed, which has been a trade mark of the series. My biggest complaint is that the book, although not long, tends to drag in places. The ending, while good, did not leave me with a satisfied feeling. There is certainly a lot more ground to cover in this series.
review 2: This entire series has been mesmerizing. I'm so happy that I finally got around to reading it. I was rooting for Juliette through every tension packed episode of her fight for survival and justice. Bernard was as despicable as ever,
... more but I admired how Mr. Howey didn't write him as a run of the mill, moustache twirling ne'er-do-well. He committed heinous acts, but all in the name of what he considered the greater good. Many brave and virtuous people were lost that I grew to care about. I whole heartedly recommend this book to fans of dystopian novels. less
