review 1: Sadly, I found this to be just kind of a ho hum read. It was shorter than I would have liked, but at the same time I could understand the way, why, & timing of the ending. I just wished for something more as I've come to expect so much more from Mr. Howey. I think more than anything, this is just more evidence of his talent for writing. He's not stuck in one format. So, it was nice to read something a bit different with a bit of a different take on it than his previous work.
review 2: Short but powerful (much like the main character) this story is beautiful and profound in its simplicity and profound message of ego over ethics. This is truly a short story but small only in length not in power! I highly recommend this story (available on Amazon for 99 cents or ... morefree for Prime members). I simply cannot stop reading Hugh Howey's books - even though I have a stack of library books I need to get through! less
