review 1: This is my 5th Jacob Appel book. They each have been wonderful. This was particularly entertaining as I can see where this type of thing could actually happen. I found it ironic that I happened to be watching the World Series at the same time I was reading this book. While you feel sorry for Arnold Brinkman you also realize that much of what happens to him he brought on himself, just as we do in life. As always, thanks to Jacob Appel for another entertaining read.
review 2: Set in New York this book is a very funny satire about botanist Arnold Brinkmann who didn't stand up at a baseball game for God Bless America. Whilst the video camera is on him, he sees his own image and sticks out his tongue. Post 9/11 this action propels him into a situation where he is th... moree most hated and wanted man in America. All he has to do is apologise to the nation, but he won't on principle. He ends up going underground, meeting different strange characters and getting himself into deeper trouble. I loved this book even though it does get a bit farcical at times. less
