review 1: I'll be hones: I enjoyed this book. It wasn't my favorite, and I'm unsure if I'll continue the series, but it wasn't bad. It was fun, kind of wierd, kind of random, deep at times, stupid at times. It really kept you guessing for all sorts of reasons. The main plot was interesting, and surprisingly serious. I say surprisingly because a lot of the book is about the MC's personal life, and is on a lighter note. I kind of liked that balance; not a lot of books have this particular mix of quirk and serious topics. The main plot started on chapter 3, which I greatly appreciated. But I did have problems towards the end. New characters being introduced, subplots playing no role in the plot, whole chapters I could've skipped, and the climax was a little out of the blue. I wouldn't s... moreay Deu ex machina, but getting there. So in conclusion, I enjoyed it, but it had its faults.
review 2: Cute and mostly fun, if a little underwhelming. I thought main character Daisy didn't sound like someone the police or scary supernaturals should take seriously, running around in linen dresses or with a big dagger strapped to her denim miniskirt. She doesn't sound professional or the least bit intimidating, which is a letdown for a half-demon. Sinclair is my favorite of the three love interests, if only because he's clearly the underdog for no good reason except maybe he's too human-- not *special* enough for end game. Cody is hot trailer trash? And Stefan's stuffy way of speaking loses badass points and doesn't match his biker gang setting. Also, I picture Daisy's tail like a little fleshy rat tail...that's not cute, that's gross. Still...not a bad read, if you want something light. less
