The Cambion Chronicles
review 1: Děj v sobě ukrývá více záhad a dopomáhá čtivému stylu psaní, Vás udržet u knihy co nejdéle. Pro zběhlého "fantasychyláka" to bude příběh lehce slabší, proto jistě všichni uvítáte vznikající lásku, tajemství i boj o rodinu a své přátelé.
review 2: Samara was looking forward to this summer. She had a good job at the local bookstore, and her dad had just agreed to pay for more than half of her car. It seemed like smooth sailing, until she stumbled across her mysterious co-worker, Caleb, making out with another girl(one of many) in the magazine aisle of Buncha Books. It's a normal thing to see, but Samara just doesn't get it. How could a guy like Caleb be such a player? But all sense of normalcy comes to a crashing halt, when the next thing she knows, the same girl is found unconcious in the bookstore parking lot. She's suffering from a massive heart attack, and Caleb is nowhere to be found...Really enjoyed it! There was humor, satire, and the presence of a lovely female lead. Samara is no Mary Sue. She's got spunk, wisdom, and a whole lot of independence. I love that she put Caleb through the ringer before she eventually got into a relationship with him. And I also loved that she could save herself, but had her moments of insecurity as well.I also liked the fact that this book did not try so hard. It didn't make itself out as "the greatest love story of all time". Samara and Caleb have lives and interests outside of eachother. They actually have personalities. Caleb is interested in dee-jaying, and Samara wants to be a lawyer, just like her father. On the note of diversity, this is the first YA book I've read with a biracial heroine. Samara has a white mother and an African American father. Race issues do not go entirely unnoticed in the book. I liked how the author incorporated Samara's views on her identity and her relationship with her mother's side of the family (who abandoned her after she got pregnant by a black man)into the plot. All in all, this was a very fast and fun read. less
