review 1: I only picked this up because I was in the mood for a quick read, and today is coincidentally the 25th anniversary of the Wall coming down. I've never read Patterson (this one is written "with" Mark Sullivan). While it kept me surprisingly interested with it's (very) short chapters, and it wasn't awful, it was just that: a quick, mildly entertaining read. But if I can make one suggestion to Grand Central Publishing, the paperback edition I read states on the cover that this is "a lethal Nazi conspiracy in modern day Berlin", which is false. It's a Stasi conspiracy story, which is a completely different organization that wasn't even created until 1950. Second, the song "Right Here, Right Now" by Jesus Jones that is quoted was indeed inspired by the events in Europe in the l... moreate 80s and 90s, but it was not sung by revelers in Berlin on 9 Nov 1989. It wasn't released until 1990.
review 2: Just finished Private Berlin and as always I read all of Patterson Books way TOO fast. I want them to end (happily) but they just seem to end TOO fast. I am always looking for a new one to read. -- I have read other books in the Private series and this one was NOT the best one of the series, but definitely a good read. If you are a James Patterson fan (and who isn't) then you will enjoy this one. I don't think you HAVE to read the series in order, but it might help some with understanding Jack Morgan's role. less
