review 1: For a first novel, James Sheehan did his homework and did it well. I won't give away or discuss the plot. It's a great story. I will say that the technical aspects of the novel, dealing with legal procedures and processes, were accurate. I haven't had much time for leisure reading this year, so I spent time chipping away at reading this novel on my Nook, during the commute or other odd times that I had to read through it. This book is perfect for picking up and putting down as it is memorable enough to pick up where you've left off. I'd read more by Sheehan. He's an excellent writer.
review 2: The hero is Jack Tobin and it is based around the death penalty and the fight to save a young retarded boy. This book is brilliant and every time you think you know... more what is going to happen you get shocked and it goes in a different direction. For his first book I could not recommend it highly enough and gave it 10 out of 10 as it had everything. I even got emotional reading it and that never happens. great story. less
