review 1: Like a lot of action-thriller books, I couldn't suspend my disbelief. According to a friend of mine who teaches survival skills, jungles are the hardest place to survive, and you'd be lucky to live 48 without training and the right equipment. (The only worse places, according to him, are the arctic regions and the top of some glaciated mountain.) From the get-go, then I didn't believe, and I continued to not believe details. Still, it didn't make me want to gouge my eyes out and I read to the end with minimal page flipping (that mostly in the talky political bits).
review 2: GREAT airplane read: interesting characters, plot that moves, not dumb but not so dense you need a dictionary and cliff notes just to keep up. Loved Emma and can't wait to read more. The de
... moretails of her character were interesting. She's a chemist with an extensive knowledge of botany, and a long distance runner. The plot worked okay until the end, where it got a bit too silly to be believed. Still, an enjoyable read and a wonderful character. less

One of those random pick-ups from the library since I'm here anyway. Totally paid off.

Not sure why I picked this one up. An American TV show of a book.

Not bad for a first novel. A good paced and an easy read.
