review 1: Third book in the Mudbug series. This book focuses on Raissa as the main character, who is trying to help solve a kidnapping. The hot detective on the case is skeptical, to say the least, knowing that she claims to be a psychic. When her predictions come true, he is drawn to work with her against the direct orders of his boss. What he uncovers about her past is a total shock to all, but in the end, it works to their advantage to help solve several mysteries surrounding her friends in Mudbug. It was a great read, with interesting characters and an action packed plot.
review 2: As a stand-alone story, this book would be a nice read. Something to pass the time with interesting characters and a mystery to figure out. However, when compared to the first two books ... morein the series, it becomes formulaic. Independent young woman ends up in harms way through no fault of her own. Studly man comes to her rescue and they fall madly in lust then love. Helena the ghost played a major role in the first book but in the second and third she is used less for her humor and is more of a deus ex machine. Relegated to the background for much of the book, she suddenly appears exactly when needed to. Although she is still learning how to be a ghost it seems she figures out her abilities just in the nick of time to provide a much need piece of information to save the day. less
