review 1: I found myself laughing out loud while reading this book. Not something that happens everyday. Fortune is a spy with a price on her head. She's sent to a backwater in Louisiana to hide out until things cool down. A nice, quiet backwater is just the thing for a spy with a price on her head. Unfortunately, she lands in a backwater run by a group of elderly ladies and a dead body (or part of one) surfaces in her backyard. Quiet is not the word for her refuge!
review 2: The premise for this book is golden. A CIA assassin hides out in a small town in Louisiana. On her first day there her dog digs up a human bone, uncovering a murder that happened a few years ago. From there own total chaos ensues as she tries two help two senior citizens, members of the Sinful Ladi... morees aka the Geritol Mafia to protect a friend and uncover a murder. All while staying under the radar of the local deputy and thus hidden from the arms dealer who put a price on her head for killing his brother with a stop stiletto. The greatest strength of this book are its hilarious characters. Gertie and Ida Belle, even the dog, Bones, get the main character in the funniest of situations.I was constantly grinning or laughing out loud at the humour in this book. In the end only two questions remained: does Louisiana really have such quirky rules or were the Ladies pulling Fortune`s leg and how do you kill someone with a Tic Tac? Will definitely continue reading this series. less
