review 1: This is the first novel I have read by Jane Harvey-Berrick and I am now a huge fan! As soon as I read the synopsis for this book, I knew I wanted to read it and it did not disappoint me at all. It is a heart-wrenching, beautifully written story about two people who find each other when they need it the most. Jordan is release from prison after 8 years to return to parents who ignore him and to a town that hates him. He hates himself and his life until he meets Torrey. Torrey is a girl who has made her own mistakes in life. She quit her job in New York after having an affair with her boss, just to move in with her mom in a small Texas town. While working at a diner Torrey meets Jordan and their chemistry ignite a spark that could never be put out. Jane Harvey-Berrick did a ... morefantastic job writing this story. I didn't want to put it down. I would highly recommend this story to anyone who like to read about getting a second chance at life, over coming obstacles, and finding love when you least expect it.
review 2: I stared this book moths ago and it took two attempts before I got pass Chapter 1. Then I was hooked. I spent hour after hour reading only to cry at the end. Jordan Kane, was forced to endure hatred on a level I can't accept. His so call 'neighbours and friends' and even his family couldn't forgive him for a mistake he paid for.Then a ray of sunshine in the form of Torrey Delaney appears. She's cynical about love and her mama is a local preacher. But with one coffee and a willingness to forgive and accept him she changes his life.Books are a way of meeting people. Some you'll learn from, other will be a shoulder to lean on and some become best friends. Jordan and Torrey became my best friends. They reminded me that life is full of mistakes that no wishing or tears can change. And sometimes those mistake make us better human beings. So make mistakes but don't let them rule your life. less
