review 1: 3.5 really. Not my favorite. I just didn't like it. Cat and Bones are visited by an old ghost with a plea to help her capture and imprison a rogue ghost--a baddy from long ago who burned and raped witches as the "Grand Inquisitor". He's really powerful and on Halloween can fully physically manifest and he continues to burn and rape women annually on Halloween. Yech. They're on the hunt. While they hunt, there is some interaction with Don as ghost and Mr. Madigan from somewhere in the government. He demotes Tate and supposedly starts running the supernatural ops division. I'm sure Frost is using this as a set up for the next novel, but it was so out of place here. I feel like maybe it added length and complexity to the book but it wasn't related and never really followed th... morerough with in ways that felt uncontrived. I'm totally interested in that type of government oversight schmuck who abuses authority and uses the supernatural ops improperly, going after Cat and Bones etc., but this wasn't the book to do it in. There was almost no hot moments in this one--one of the few is a flyover with Bones and it's weird and I think gravity works more than the passages contemplate. I gave it 3.5 stars because I was happy to see Denise and Spade make a big appearance and it was still interesting. Just a little disjointed.
review 2: To start off this review, let me say that there was great quote, by Bones:'Ask me if I sparkle and I'll kill you where you stand.'This was far better, in my opinion, than the previous book. I didn't really care about the ghouls and all their drama. Now, this book had a far more interesting plot, involving a murdering ghost and it verged on 'too creepy for me'.New secondary characters were introduced (hello, Tyler and Dexter), and characters that I love came back (Vlad and Ian). Charles/Spade was a bit annoying in his overprotectiveness of Denise. The one thing I didn't like? Not enough Cat and Bones in this... There is however, one extremely steamy scene that almost made up for it. I also liked seeing more of Fabian, the ghost I'd like to have as a friend. less

lolo
Interesting idea to throw Heinrich Kramer into the plot. This one was a little more gruesome in places than the ones before - or at least it stuck out more in my opinion.Lots of loose ends left as well which should make the next book quite interesting.Cat's character development is nicely done and her former insecurity is mostly gone, having turned her into a woman who is more than capable of standing on her own two feet.
