review 1: I totally devoured this. The art is great and the sci-fi storyline just worked with me. There's no inundation with extra information, even though I'm quite curious about the humans of the 3700s. I didn't feel like it was a love story as much as it was a sci-fi story with characters who just want to know who they are. I also enjoyed the physical aspects of the book. The paper is a non-glossy newsprint and just smells nice. The interactive aspect of having to flip the book over was a cool narrative touch too. If anything, just get it for the art! Four stars because there were a few plot holes/unbelievable things (why exactly did William want to go to the Amazon?), but nothing enough to stop me from enjoying the art and story.

... moren color! the soft, rich watercolor washes used here really complement his style (and I also love seeing his artistic talents grow, while he retains a rough, sketchy line). The story in Trillium has to do with aliens, time travel, pyramids, and war-hungry brutes. There are some playful things happening with panels that I didn't quite buy as more than making the obvious more obvious and taking me out of the narrative to futz around with the book, and I didn't really buy the love (?) part of the story - I thought maybe William and Nika were variations of the same person, but I didn't see an attraction that was implied. But overall an intriguing story. Too bad William and Nika are surrounded by such bloodthirsty idiots. less

Read this book after watching Interstellar. Best dessert to my steak. Sci-fi cravings satiated.

Wow. A little 'Interstellar'-y near the end, but well-crafted!
