review 1: A breezy paranormal romance mystery set in Jazz Age San Francisco. The romance is too insta-lust/love for my taste, but there was pretty good character development and the romance plot balances well with mystery aspects. The biggest draw was the story's setting, switching between the grand homes and shady docks San Francisco and the cultural allure and hidden secrets of Chinatown. Paranormal happenings drive the plot and characters, but world building is not major staple. Recommended if looking for a light and quick paranormal romance with a fresh setting and time period.
review 2: I enjoyed this book, but I didn't love it as much as I had expected/hoped I would. The beginning was kinda slow and the plot was just okay. Winter and Aida are really what held my at... moretention during my read. Winter was wonderfully masculine yet vulnerable. He was protective and strong and at the same time wondrous when he began to hope for something more in his life. Aida was strong, independent and witty. The interactions between the two of them were great. I loved reading about the two of them together and I loved reading Winter's POV. less
