review 1: I was so excited to get this book after loving every single page of the first book Bitter Spirits. But sadly this one fell far short of its predecessor. While Winter and Aida had phenomenal chemistry, Lowe and Hadley didn't. Neither is a very likable person, and the fall-apart and make-up is rushed and bland. The ending is very unsatisfying, and too much is left unexplained or simply ignored by various characters. I will give it this, if you're looking for HOT sex scenes in your romance novels, this is the author for you.
review 2: I love the Roaring Twenties series. They are so well researched and well written that San Francisco of the time period just comes alive. Who knew there were wild parrots in Pacific Heights? Bennett has created characters that are ... morebeautiful and lead exciting lives but are still dealing with horrible personal tragedy and the dysfunction that comes along with it. In the midst of it all, she still gives us a steamy romance and a pretty good supernatural mystery. What more could you want? less
