review 1: I love the world that Jenn Bennett has created and this third installment is full of action and drama from page one. In fact, my one complaint about this edition is that the book starts in the middle of an action sequence and it took awhile for me to figure out what was going on. Lon's ex appears in this one and not only did Cady handle her own, but Lon stood by her through it all. The foundation for a showdown between Cady and her mom in the final installment was laid as Cady tried to get a hold of her moonchild power. Several great side characters also appeared. Kar Yee had a small role through the first two books, but after playing a big role in the novella, I was glad she was a bigger fixture in this one. The ending is a bit of cliffhanger, so it is a good thing the fi... morenal book in the series is out and waiting on my kindle!
review 2: There are many times when I want life to go easier on Cady (Arcadia Bell), but then I am reminded that my knee-jerk desire is at odds with good urban fantasy storytelling. Alas, trouble knows no bounds with Cady. When she quits working for the Hellfire Club, the problems follow her so she has to solve them anyway (without the consulting fee). At the same time, Cady is coming into new powers and skills that resurrect an old problem with dear old mom, and Cady is discovering that she is transforming something she fears. What I love about her is that she faces her challenges without self pity. Instead she focuses on the world that she wants to live in, and focuses on making it happen (or at least preventing the possibility from being destroyed). She is all about being the change that she wants to see. Additionally, there is so much change happening around her that there is not choice except to adapt to the new and unknown. less
