review 1: I like McKinlay's plotting, but BOTH of her series driving me crazy right now (this one and her Library Lover series) with their romantic drama. Please, please, please stick with the mystery, and if romantic issues are part of the character, fine. But the romantic triangles for both Mel and Lindsay in their latest books feel completely forces into the story and out of character. Don't give your main characters such perfect boyfriends if you don't want us to be exasperated when those main characters waffle.
review 2: It's always such a bummer when an author seems to run out of steam in a really good series and then starts to mess with the good chemistry some characters have. Both angie and mel having relationship issues? And all of a sudden a guy from the past... more pops in? Not believing it. They were doing great out of the bakery, a few decent new characters but messing with the Joe/Mel thing? Uh uh. Not even well done. less
