review 1: I loved this!! Isabella and Mac were a lot of fun. Mac is a tortured genius, who is also a recovered alcoholic, who is just trying to get his wife back. I have to admit that a lot of scenes in this book made me think..."Dude, how do you have the time to do all of this? Oh yeah, you people don't have a job!" Sigh. I loved the idea of the paintings and I loved the fire of Isabella. I devoured this super fast. Also, watching Ian be a father and watching all of the brothers interfere with Mac's relationship was a lot of comedic fun.
review 2: I am loving Jennifer Ashley's Mackenzie family saga. The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie was an unusual, romantic, inspiring read. Ms Ashley has a unique writing style that really appeals to me.Mac and Isabella's tale is complet
... moreely different from the first in the saga, although each brother has a particular obsession running through which will become clear with each story. I believe this adds something special to this explosive, slightly mad family, all are loveable and care deeply for each other.Another reviewer has commented that the plot is a little thin, and I agree, but do not feel that this detracts from the story Ms. Ashley is telling us. This is the love story of Mac and Isabella, deeply attracted to each other on first sight, they elope and marry immediately. Their marriage is explosive, madly passionate, and obsessive (particularly on Mac's part). Isabella lives a roller coaster life with Mac the wild artist who does everything to excess, loves, paints, drinks and plays. Eventually, after a personal tragedy and no longer strong enough to deal with Mac's excesses, Isabella leaves Mac and applies for a legal separation. They have nothing further to do with each other for 3 years although Mac continues to care for Isabella from a distance, financially and with a secret hope that one day they will resume their marriage, to this end he becomes a reformed character, although not a happy one. It is a testament to the love they shared that during their separation they are neither of them unfaithful to the other.Isabella has always been loved, embraced, and kept within the Mackenzie family, by Mac's brothers, Hart, Cam and Ian and it is through Ian initially, and the young woman that Ian has become deeply attached to that Mac and Isabella begin to move again in the same orbit.I do love the way Jennifer Ashley keeps the whole family so involved, it really does make reaching the end of one story more bearable knowing that the next will include the characters from the family and we will know what happens to them. The plot line regarding 'the villain of the piece' was not terribly plausible, but I felt....without spoiling the story for other readers...that he was necessary to introduce a particular character with a reasonable explanation for that character being there and also being accepted.Jennifer Ashley writes in a funny, witty endearing manner, I love the Mackenzie family and want them to be happy. Mac is gorgeous, outrageous, vulnerable and utterly loveable. Isabella is his perfect foil, beautiful, sexy, loving and forgiving. Ms. Ashley has succeeded in another great read. If not for the rather thin plot line this would have been another 5 star, as it is, 4.5 stars. I am looking forward to starting Cam's story. less

Lady Isabella caused a scandal by eloping with Lord Mac MacKenzie on the eve of her debut ball. Then she caused another scandal by leaving him three years later. Now she has arrived at Mac's doorstep to tell him someone is copying his paintings. Mac doesn't care who is making money on his art; but he does care about Isabella. She left him because he was a selfish drunk. Now he has cleaned up his act and wants to win Isabella back.I was looking forward to this book after reading the first book in the series, but I found this story to be very slow. Isabella and Mac still love each other, but have to learn to trust each other again. The secondary story of counterfeit art was kind of interesting, but didn't take up many pages. My rating: 3 Stars.

I actually liked parts of this book better than I did the first installment of the series. I liked the relationship and banter, I think the conflicts were resolved neatly, and although I had a big moment of "ugh" when the portrayal of Mac felt more like lipservice than anything else (specifically, the fact that it was portrayed as if Mac wasn't kind of a Nice Guy TM at some particular moments, and as if there wasn't a huge gap in power between the two of them due to her being married to him) but overall, this book was very, very enjoyable. I already started the fourth book, but just now realised that maybe I should read Mac's book first after all. As always with Jennifer Ashley, I'll go with 3.5 until I know where's what. ;)
