review 2: oh my god oh my god i have no adequate words to describe this book. beth is such an amazing protagonist right off the bat and i liked that instead of taking into
... moreaccount what other people what other people thought about Ian or the rest of the Mackenzie clan, she chose to disregard their opinions so she could form her own. Lord Ian is a very eccentric character (and all I never knew I wanted) and very direct from the start. I loved his confidence in his ability to perform certain tasks and how his character developed throughout the story. This book kept me hooked and vested my interest in what was going to happen next, and this book was also frankly a little heartbreaking, in terms of seeing how Ian viewed himself as a lesser person because of his "madness," and was convinced that his brothers only tolerated him. less

I had high hopes for this book because of the high rating, but aparently this book is not for me. I've tried but halfway through I just didn't want to read anymore about this h/h. In my opinion the sex in this book takes precedence over he romance instead of adding to the romance. This is probably because of the Asperger-element, but although I admire the author for writing a romance novel with that limiting factor; it wasn't the escape from reality I look for. So I didn't finish it and doubt I ever will. Because I'm all for giving second chances for authors I'm going to start on the second book in this series. Sometimes it's just the first book in a series that's missing the mark.

This book, yo! This book! The title really doesn't do it any justice, believe me it is much better. We have an autistic hero with a traumatizing childhood and a rich widow heroine with her own past traumas. BUT, for two dysfunctional people, our protagonists are extremely functioning, and kick-ass, and that is what I loved most about them! I really deeply cared about them (and hot make-outs were hot!).

I'm curious what a person with Asperger's would think.
