review 1: Grant believes in the Tantric Principle- holding off on pleasure in order to reach maximum control. Works great in his business life, in which he owns and operates a successful Yoga studio, but it doesn't work so well in his love life. Enter Arianna, a Yoga student extraordinaire. Not only does she understand his principles, she is a quick and eager learner. When their student/ teacher life becomes a romantic one, Grant continues to practice Tantra, in order to remain control. For Grant has been married and burned once before and will not allow that to happen again, even if it means continually denying his true feelings for Arianna, and risk losing her. This book was sad in that Grant was so into sticking to his principles in order to keep from getting hurt again that... more he missed what was right in front of him until it was too late, and he got hurt again. The characters were very well fleshed out, but the romance scenes were a little cold- but maybe that was because Grant kept denying himself the chance to let go and enjoy what Arianna was offering him.
review 2: This was a fast read and I really enjoyed it. I loved the conflict and how it was all resolved. It was one of those painful breakups where they both love each other, but one is not ready to admit it. Then when they do, it's too late. I love that. I loved that it wasn't just an easy "I love you" "I love you" HEA! Done. One thing I thought was a bit confusing was that I didn't realize much time has passed. It was hardly touched on at all. It sort of read like they were together for about 2 weeks, because it just flowed from one day to the next, without saying a few weeks passed. It says they were together for months later in the book and I was dumbfounded. I had no idea. I so I wish there would have been more clarification on the passage of time. But other than that, it was a fun short story, exactly what I was looking for after reading an emotionally draining book. less
