review 1: In the Icing on the cupcake Ross creates the image of the perfect southern belle with the perfect southern life. Until she breaks off the engagement with her picture perfect fiancé. She then moves to the New York to start over. This book was ok. They did talk about some mature issues that at this age I did not find interesting. Though the cover was very appealing to someone my age they went into some adult type issues. This book was quite boring and had no point. Even though the main character had a theme you would have never thought that through the adventure that the main character would have learned to move on and that it is ok to start over. The overall storyline had no relevance to the theme. Something else about the story that made no sense was how it switched persp... moreectives from the main character to the grandmother of the main character. Overall I did not enjoy the book and it dragged on. I would give it 2 out of 5 stars.
review 2: Ansley Waller is a Southern belle without a back-up plan. Why would she need one? She’s gorgeous and smart and engaged to be married.Everything changes when Ansley’s fiancé breaks the engagement. What’s a girl with no other plans to do?Well, this gal is flying to NYC with her tail between her legs. Luckily, she has a wealthy grandmother to take care of her, sort of. Ansley soon discovers two things: 1. Her grandmother is NOT going to take care of her, and 2. Her grandmother’s life is complicated enough without Ansley in it.While trying to find a job in the big city, Ansley realizes what she’d really like to do: open a cupcake shop. She’s a terrific baker, and a born salesperson. So, she does just that and finds success. Can rebounding from a broken engagement be this easy?I’m not saying that this is the most realistic story ever written. It certainly is not. It is entertaining, and all of the cupcake recipes sound divine. less
