review 1: I am trying to write. Long pause’s because I am actually speechless. I have left it twenty four hours for this to sink in. Fiction written around actual events is just so exciting to me and this will remain one of the most potent account’s I have ever read. The investigating is calm and measured. The telling is sparse and beautifully clear. This combination of research and writing gives the greatest justice to an episode that should be revealed, remembered and talked about again and again. Amazing. I loved it
review 2: This book was recommended by staff at a local book store, and my expectations seem to have outweighed the results. The book reads as a meditation on love, justice, and society. The language is poetically sparse, but at times a chore. The n... moreon-traditional narrative structure is something I typically love, but here it feels gimmicky at the story's resolution. There are some interesting parts, enough to at least keep reading, but I finished feeling as though I'd been had, and glad the book requires a short commitment to finish. less
