review 1: 2.5 stars. Summary: A far disappointment after reading Flat Out Love. This book was dripping with YA drama. I see the intention- 2 young people who have both had traumatic family loss/events somehow get together and inevitably help each other and fall in love. It just lacked any real depth. The book centers on these emotional issues and nothing else. What was Blithe's college major??? Or the major of any of the others for that matter? I mean she did make it through 4 years of college even though she was in a black funk for 3 1/2 years of it. How did that happen??? What was important to the characters besides each other??? Sure Sabin had his performing arts, but the others, I'm really not sure. In the end Blithe ends up with a writing job, so I guess her major ... morewas in Language arts??? There just wasn't anything else really going on in the book other than dwelling on their past issues... oh and lot's of graphic sex. That was over the top too. On the positive side, I loved the strong family bonds between the characters and their witty interactions. It was entertaining enough for me to finish it, but not one I'd recommend to a friend.
review 2: This book reminds me of so many books I have read, "Girl meets boy, boy doesn't want a serious relationship, girl agrees, girls see's guy with another girl, girls heart is broken "same ole same ole" I'm not saying the book sucks or anything I'm just saying I've heard it all before. Also this book has a lot of sex scenes and it sort of puts me off, not because I'm a prude or anything but its just hard for me to wrap my mind around young college kids having buck wild sex like these two did. less
