review 1: Reading this book is both exhilarating and heart-racing. Celeste is definitely a unique character and the only character that I can certainly remember and not be mixed with anybody else. And she's quite rubbing off on me. As always, drama is always needed to be accompanied with witty and heart-fluttering punchlines. Most of all, I certainly agree that we are all struggling with our own identity at times but we do have to be satisfied but challenge ourselves occasionally.
review 2: I am being very generous with these 3 stars. My gut instinct is more to give 1 or 2 stars but that is only because I am not the intended audience for this book. It would have been better received at age 13 than now at age 37. It is obvious that people adore this book and I have to agr
... moreee that it isn't a bad book it's just a bit unsophisticated, pandering, and melodramatic for my tastes. I do not require melodrama in my life or my literature in order to keep me entertained or to turn me on, for that matter. To me, subtlety and authenticity are sublime. This was Also predictable. I kept finding myself saying, sarcastically, aloud, "No, really? I didn't see that comming!" So, what was I doing reading YA in the first place? That's a good point. Lesson learned. It was on sale and I gave it a try. Now I know that YA maybe just isn't for me. Wow just realized this review I just wrote is for the first book in the series "flat out love". I don't know how to erase this review but just to clarify I read the first book of the series, not the second. less
