review 1: I don't usually read books written by a man, or from a male characters point of view but after starting the Dresden series I think I will more often. Harry was a breath of much need fresh air, still within my favorite genre (paranormal/sci-fi) but without the overload of female emotions and too many sex scenes. Jim Butcher is a smart, creative man and I will continue to read the Dresden Files over and over again.
review 2: I did not think I would like these books as much as I did. Especially the first one as often as not in long collections the initial story is just setting the tone, establishing charactors etc. I was pleasantly suprised by not only getting the latter but also a great plot! Mr. Butcher's voice comes out old school detective with more than jus
... moret the standard exceptional gifts of observation. The result is a fabulous cornucopia of humour, intrigue, romance well you get the picture. I highly recommend this series. less
