review 1: I recently read "let The old Dreams Die" By Mr Lindqvist and I loved it. Not every tale was spectacular but all were quite beautifully told even if the subject matter is rather garish at times. The writing reminded me of Peter Hoeg Whose novel "Miss Smillas feeling for snow" is wonderful, calm and yet to the point. So I had to buy more of Mr Lindqvist's novels and this was the next.Little Star, is different, it is the first thing that you notice in a genre that is dripping vampire tales. It is slow and well written and a little over descriptive at times for the type of novel that it is, yet that only adds to its charm and style. It is so well put together that at times you are shocked by the characters behavior and remember that it is a horror story.The characters all have... more depth, no one is perfect and all are good and bad at times, as suits their makeup. I was impressed not only by the originality of the writing but the clear construction of the novel (something that is often lacking in horror novels) In its own way despite the subject matter it is rather beautiful. I would certainly recommend this novel and not only to horror readers as it has much to offer.
review 2: Wow was this book DARK. The writing was very good, and I did enjoy the story. It left me with a lot to think about! However, it was really hard to read in some places due to the terrible things happening. There were a few issues for me, with the most notable being why was this baby left out to die in the first place? I felt like that was important, yet it never factored into the story. I may try more from this writer; I'm curious to see what the earlier stories were like. less
