review 1: John Connolly is one of my favorite modern writers. He balances high and low culture (no insult with the 'low' distinction as that's just what it's called), literary genius and commercial appeal. He writes horror that is enchantingly beautiful and captivating, and "The Wanderer in Unknown Realms" hits the spot there as well. The ebook is so long that I expected more to happen only to be hit with a book excerpt. I had to go back and reread the ending and accept that yes, I'd crossed the finish line.
review 2: I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into with this one. I honestly just got it trying to read something different than what I normally read. I don't know how to feel about it. it definitely hooked me in. The story was so interesting I had to keep readin... moreg to see what would happen next. I believe it is very well written, I mean the author obviously knows what to do with words! I guess it's the subject matter that bothers me a bit. I finished the book a little unsettled. Horror and suspense aren't really my cup of tea so maybe that was why I didn't like it so much? I know for sure the end upset me. It was like I only got half of the book and the true ending was ripped away to taunt me. I'll likely have nightmares tonight... Anyway, regardless of how scared I am after reading this, I cannot discredit the author in his skills. He did a wonderful job of putting this together and really getting in my head! less
