review 1: It's has a bunch of short stories that aren't mentioned in the first 10. The first one is Halt telling Will the story of how he really became an orphan. Will's father saved Halts life while the when the wargals were attacking. He died telling halt about his wife and son. Later halt ran into some smugglers who knew were she lived. They were going to attack her because they knew her husband had just died at war. Halt followed them there, and when they attacked Halt tried to stop them. But something went wrong and Will's mother died saving Halts life. Two of them were about weddings. One was Will's one was Horace's. Will married Alyss and Horace married Princess Cassandra. For Horace's wedding Will was the best man and had to give a speech. At first it was long and... more dull. Then he dropped it In a fire. So he wrote a much shorter and better one. The last one was about how Will's horse, Tug, got injured and had to retire. So Will had to get a new horse, who he also named Tug.
review 2: We really enjoyed this collection of short stories woven into a cohesive book. Especially liked how he used these stories to explain certain aspects of the story and characters. While it felt that this was intended to provide closure to this wonderful series and introduce the next series (Brotherband Chronicles) I don't think he will be able to leave this series and the delightful characters. I know we enjoyed the characters very much, from the stories and insights given in this book It's clear that Flanagan loved the characters as well. less
