review 1: Ranger's Apprentice by John Flanagan is a fantasy story and is considered a novel. The book takes place after all the previous books, when Horace, one of the central characters is traveling in the land of Nihon-Ja. He becomes friends with the lands emperor, but soon he and the emperor are informed that one of the lands nobles has created an uprising. While Horace is in Nihon-Ja, The Rangers Halt and the main protagonist Will fear he has gone missing and search for him. I rated this book 4 stars out of five because although the book is excellent, the story starts extremely slow as the author is explaining what happened in the previous book. While this is a minor complaint, I almost stopped reading the book because of this fact. Despite my gripes with it, The Emperot of Niho... moren-Ja is still a fantastic book.
review 2: I recently read the tenth installment of the Ranger's Apprentice series, The Emperor of Nihon-Ja. In this story, Horace travels to the far-eastern country of Nihon-Ja to study military tactics. When he's gone suspiciously long, his friends travel to rescue him. When they get there, they get thrown into the country's civil war. With a lot of help from others, the emperor's army is able to fight their enemy in a final battle. My favorite part was when Princess Cassandra and Alyss fight the snow tiger while recruiting tribes to help the emperor's cause. I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure. less
