review 1: Another true crime book where the criminal blames his miserable childhood for the horrendous crime he commits. This is author Nance's first book and she did a pretty thorough job of it. I didn't feel it necessary to go over and over the details, she presented them well the first time so why belabor the point. How could one forget them after reading them the first time as they were so horrific. Innocent victims, one of whom escaped the arroyo but has paid a price nonetheless. My heart just goes out to Colene. She has tried, and apparently succeeded, going on with her life despite a past she never asked for or wanted. Good true crime for this first attempt by Ms Nance. I gave it three stars due to repetitive content, perhaps it needed better editing. I read the ebook version... more and did not find many grammar or sentence structure errors.
review 2: I enjoy murder mysteries and true crime. This was a true crime drama that had me mesmerized. I had some personal connections to the young men that found one of the victims. It was well written, even though I found several mistakes in the Kindle edition. The story was so good that it motivated me to do more Internet research on the victims and perpetrator! I am planning on reading her next novel about another murder in Albuquerque. less
