review 1: One thing I liked is that as a series it isn't something you necessarily have to read all of to understand. I think this puts a lot of people off some graphic novels as they feel like they have to read 40 volumes to get up to speed on the narrative, but all of the tales so far seem to work nicely as standalone stories. The characterisation and attention to detail in design gives you instant background stories to the few recurring characters.
review 2: Fantastic anthropomorphic graphic novel. 1950s detective noir type story, with a bit of white power and red-scare thrown in.The art was absolutely gorgeous. The artist did an amazing job of putting human expressions on the faces of animals so that you could relate to them. I was blown away.My only nitpick is th
... moree way the depiction of the female characters. They don't look like animals, they look like sexy pin-up women with ears. The men (and the unattractive women) look like bipedal animals---yes, they walk on two legs, but they look like animals. I found this icky and the only jarring note to an otherwise fantastic graphic novel. less

Meh. 2.5 stars. The artwork was beautiful. The stories were cliche.
