review 1: I have known of the Blacksad series for a while but never really had the time, the opportunity (or the money) to read it, until now.I never really know where to start with my comments about a graphic novel. Some say its not really a book, just a comic, others dont like the fact that the visuals are there rather letting the reader create them in their mind for themselves, and there are even those that say that regardless of the story it makes it look ridiculous and immature. All I can say is that they have not found the right one for them.The artwork is impressive to say the least, with scenes rich in detail and atmosphere and even with all that is going on you do not lose sight of the storyline or the subplot. I am a little annoyed that I started the series towards the end... more however on further investigation I see that the various volumes are in fact self contained and do not need the other books to support the storyline.
review 2: Cinco anos após o último volume, "Blacksad" regressou com este "O Inferno, o Silêncio" (2010), o quarto volume da aventura criada por Juan Diaz Canales e Juanjo Guarnido.Já tinha falado do primeiro volume aqui. Para todos os fãs do género noir esta é uma BD a considerar. A acção decorre na América durante os anos 50 e as personagens são animais antropomorfizados.A arte de Guarnido está sempre a um nível excepcional, o senhor leva o seu tempo mas quando temos o livro na mão é de bradar aos céus. Em relação ao argumento lembro-me de ter notado uma melhoria significativa em relação ao 2º volume (Arctic Nation), uma trama mais elaborada e com um humor mais certeiro. Mas de uma forma geral são cumpridores e nisso este não é excepção.Depois de se envolver no mundo do espectáculo para descobrir o assassino de uma famosa actriz ("Algures entre as sombras"), de ter viajado até uma comunidade mais fechada e conservadora onde o racismo ainda impera ("Arctic Nation") e de se envolver numa trama política onde o comunismo é um alvo a abater ("Alma Vermelha"), chegou a vez de Blacksad visitar Nova Orleães, terra do jazz, para se envolver no mistério mais musical desta saga.Enquanto escrevia isto comecei a recordar todos os volumes e se recordo a história do "Arctic Nation" como uma das minhas predilectas lembrei-me agora que o "Alma Vermelha" tem o final mais triste de todos, Blacksad não teve a vida nada fácil neste. less
